Vandal-proof polymer coatings

Corporation Kvazar Group of Companies introduces a revolutionary product on the PPGI market: PPGI with an innovative anti-vandal polymer coating.

The special composition of the protective coating ensures high resistance to mechanical damage such as scratches, chips, and impacts. In addition, this coating makes PPGI products resistant to graffiti and other forms of vandalism since any markings or drawings made with markers or spray paint can be easily removed without damaging the material itself.

This advantage is particularly relevant for urban infrastructure objects where high traffic levels and potential acts of vandalism often lead to property damage. Using PPGI with anti-vandal coating in construction and finishing materials will not only protect urban infrastructure from external influences but also help maintain its original appearance over a long period. This means that maintenance costs will decrease, while overall service life will increase.

Manufacturing of PPGI with an anti-vandal coating involves a complex multi-stage process including the following stages:

  1. Preparation of steel substrate. The starting material is a steel strip that undergoes cleaning and surface preparation to ensure better adhesion with the coating.
  2. Priming. A primer layer is applied to the prepared surface, increasing the adhesion of the coating and preventing the metal substrate from corrosion.
  3. Application of the polymer coating. The most important stage is the application of the polymer coating, which is done by a Coil Coating method. Special enamels are used as coatings, providing high resistance to vandalism.
  4. Polymerization. After applying the polymer coating, it undergoes thermal treatment—polymerization, which ensures its strength and durability.
  5. Cooling. Cooling of the coated metal occurs using water followed by drying.
  6. Quality control. The finished product is tested for compliance with regulatory requirements: the thickness of the coating, strength, flexibility, UV resistance, scratch resistance, and resistance to vandalism are checked and confirmed.
  7. Cutting and packaging. The final step includes packaging the coils for transportation. If PPGI has to be delivered in sheets, strips, or blanks, the coils undergo slitting or cutting to length, after which the finished products are packaged and shipped.
